As buoyant as we were the other day, we’re equally low tonight. I’ll be delicate in how we discuss this, but we are caught up in something that seems larger than our own adoption case. There were some problems here a few years ago with an international adoption that we believe may be causing the delays in our case now. We were told today that we might not have a court date until January 10. If that does happen, we wouldn’t be home with the kids before the end of January at the earliest. Two months here!
For various reasons, we just can’t get into it any deeper than that now. Let’s just say that we are considering our options and don’t really know which end is up right now. We feel fairly powerless to affect the process and that’s probably the worst part of all…
We know that you all love and support us and can’t wait for us to get home with the kids. As the emotions are on a roller coaster here, maybe tomorrow will bring better news for us.
We missed seeing Nastia for the very first time today because of all we were caught up with. We called her school to have the administrator explain that we still love her.
But Sasha was his usual wonderful self. He was having the hardest time bringing himself to say any words in English. We know how to do it now. Chocolate! He’ll say anything for a piece of it. He can’t get the word please out of his mouth fast enough. And he counted to two today for us for two pieces! Tomorrow we’ll visit Nastia again for sure.
