It’s noon and we haven’t really started the day. Had a small problem with our safe last night. It stopped opening. Since then we’ve been visited by four or five delegations of workers, each of which has spent a fair amount of time staring at the safe and touching it, then speaking with each other in soft, conspiratorial tones. At one point they disappeared and returned 10 minutes later with a screwdriver. They didn’t use it, but I think it made everyone feel better.
Finally a small delegation figured out how to disable the lock and after we took our things out, they carried the safe away.
We’re waiting for a call from Svieta to find out when she’s coming over. Hopefully she’s succeeded in getting our bus tickets to Radomoschle. We’re going to call Lauren’s friend Maksim’s mother today and see if we can meet before we head out tomorrow.
